Download and print the free template we’ve created especially for this activity. It includes models of small forest animals, we all love: a squirrel, a hedgehog and a fox.<\/p>\n
Step 2: Cutting<\/h3>\n
Set the children to carefully cut out the elements of the template. Each element corresponds to a part of the animal’s body.
\nOnce all the bits are cut out, then they will need to flatten the cardboard (toilet) roll. You will end up with a rectangle measuring about 6 x 10 cm.<\/p>\n
Next, place the cut out element on the cardboard and trace the outline with a pencil. Once you have traced each element, simply cut the cardboard roll to shape.<\/p>\n
Step 3: Add natural embellishments<\/h3>\n
Autumn is very generous in all the treasures\u00a0 this season offers: beautiful coloured leaves, acorns are only but a few!
\nTake advantage of a walk in the woods to collect leaves, twigs, pine cones or even acorns hats. Beautiful treasures that you will use thereafter to decorate and personalise the animals, to make the hedgehog’s quills and the fox and squirrel’s tails.
\nFollow your imagination and imply stick leaves and other decorations with glue.
\nYou can also use coloured markers (or Posca style paint markers) to add some colours to your lovely forest creatures.<\/p>\n
Step 4: Assembling<\/h3>\n
All that’s left to do, now, is assemble the different parts of the animals when necessary by gluing the different elements (squirrel and fox tails) to the bodies.
